How You Can Help

Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the program. Volunteers come together from all walks of life to share their talents to help those with disabilities.  If interested, please see the requirements and complete an application.
We cannot make a program happen without many volunteers.

 

 

  • Volunteers must be 14 years of age.
  • Be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Be able to walk and jog periodically on uneven ground during a one hour class.
  • Must have adequate vision and hearing to assist rider.
  • Horse experience is helpful, but not required.
  • Attendance at an orientation and training is required prior to participating.

Horse Leader

The Horse Leader is responsible for the horse.  The leader should have some experience handling horses.  Helps the horse warm-up before class, while the rider is mounting, and dismounting. While class is in session the leader focuses on the horse only to ensure the safety of the rider.

Barn Helper

The Barn Helper may collect the horses needed for lessons from the field, help groom and tack, help keep the barn clean by sweeping, cleaning stalls, buckets, tack, and help set up class sessions.

Side Walker

The Side Walker is responsible for the rider.  The side walker greets the rider before class and helps walk with the horse (if able) prior to mounting. The side walker focuses on the rider providing support with rider stability ensuring the safety of the rider.

Administrative

Administrative help with social media, updating forms, computer knowledge, record keeping, accounting, fundraising skills.

Donate Goods

We welcome any new or used tack donations. Saddles, helmets, boots, bridles, halters, etc. We also will gladly take any grooming equipment.

Donation of feed or hay.

A donation toward a service:  teeth floating, farrier, vet bill, vaccinations, etc.

Got Skills?

Any skills or hobbies that you possess that can be donated to the program such as fundraising, photography, accounting, carpentry, and gardening are all welcome!
